How to Use Heat Shrink Tube

In the process of Wire Harness processing, we often use heat shrink tube, it is an insulating material that shrinks when exposed to high temperatures, and is soft, flame-retardant, and anti-corrosion. So how to use heat shrink tube correctly?
1. To prepare the materials, first understand the diameter of the wire, or calculate the corresponding diameter from the length and width, and choose a casing with a diameter larger than the diameter of the wire. The surface of the heat shrink tube should be smooth and flat, and the heat shrink tube should be free of cracks. Cracks and cuts should be flat to avoid stress concentration generated during heating and shrinkage and spread along the cracks.
2. Remove the burrs and sharp corners on the wires to prevent cracks caused by piercing the heat shrinkable sleeve during the retracting process. A quick-drying cleaning agent must be used to clean the dirt and impurities on the wires and keep them clean.
3. Thread the heat-shrinkable tube into one end of the wire, and move the worn heat-shrinkable tube to a suitable.
4. Position. For bent wires, arrange the heat-shrinkable tubes at the corners to prevent wrinkles after being heated.
5. Heat guns, ovens, etc. are generally used for heating tools. During the heating process, they should be heated in a single direction from left to right or from right to left, or they can be heated from the middle to both sides to avoid air remaining in the casing. Air bubbles may be generated. After the heat-shrinkable tube shrinks, it should be tightly wrapped around the wire, not too close to the surface of the tube or concentrated in one place, otherwise it will cause uneven baking or burn the tube.
